Dr. Trent Westernoff brings unparalleled expertise, precision, and dedication to his role as a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Oral Surgery Partners. With more than two decades of experience — including combat-zone service and academic excellence — Dr. Westernoff is recognized as one of the most accomplished oral surgeons in Southern California.
He provides full-scope surgical care across our Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Westchester-Los Angeles locations, specializing in advanced dental implant placement, wisdom teeth removal, facial reconstruction, and complex anesthesia management.
Education & Military Service
Dr. Westernoff earned his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, then went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the prestigious Harvard School of Dental Medicine, graduating cum laude. His academic career was marked by multiple awards in research, biology, and oral health sciences.
While at Harvard, he joined the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program and was commissioned as a captain aboard the historic USS Constitution.
He completed a six-year residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where he obtained:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD)
- Full training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
- A one-year internship in General Surgery
Dr. Westernoff later served as a Major in the U.S. Army, practicing hospital-based oral surgery at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. In 2005, he was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving in a Combat Support Hospital in Mosul. His exceptional service earned him several military honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Order of the Combat Spur.

- Wisdom teeth extraction and complex tooth removal
- Jaw surgery and facial trauma repair

- IV sedation and general anesthesia, including non-opioid pain control
He is also a certified provider of Exparel® for opioid-sparing pain management and L-PRF therapy for advanced healing.

After completing nine years in the U.S. Army Reserve and three years of active duty, Dr. Westernoff returned home to Southern California with his wife to continue raising their family.
